The summer of 1983 is a particularly big challenge for the famous children's book author Roald Dahl. Overcoming severe back pain, the writer is preparing for the publication of his novel “The Witches”, which will become a bestseller. At the same time, he is organizing a thorough renovation of his family home, because after 30 years of marriage, he divorced his wife to propose to his long-time mistress.
Meanwhile, in a recent review of a book depicting the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon, Dahl compared Israel to Hitler's Third Reich and Jews to "murderous nuns". His antisemitic statements trigger an avalanche of condemnation in the press, following which an unexpected confrontation takes place at the Dahl family home on a hot summer afternoon. The writer is forced to choose: apologize publicly or risk his name and reputation.
Performance in Latvian with translation into English in subtitles.
