Opera "Mīlas dzēriens"

Nemorino is madly in love with Adina, but unable to muster the courage to confess his feelings. Oh, if only there were such a magic potion that would open the beautiful Adina's eyes and let her see Nemorino's love! The travelling merchant Dulcamara's supplies contain what is needed, yet the effect produced by the potion is not quite what Nemorino would desire. The merry misunderstandings in the opera lead to the conclusion that true love is a heavenly force that overcomes all obstacles.

The premiere of Gaetano Donizetti's comic opera L'elisir d'amore took place in 1832 in Milan. At the Latvian National Opera, this opera is being staged for the third time. The new production is created by the notable Austrian stage director Sven-Eric Bechtolf, whose productions can be seen in the most significant European opera houses. The visual image of the production is created by set and costume designer Julian Crouch.
