Mākslinieku grupas izstāde "Art Deco 2026"

The artists' group exhibition "Art Deco 2026" will be on view in the Exhibition Hall of the Mencendorf House until the end of September this year. Fourteen female artists are participating in the colorful and diverse exhibition, exhibiting nearly seventy works of art – paintings and decorations inspired by the brilliant style of the "Art Deco" era.

The group of artists and like-minded individuals features professional painters as well as creative personalities who work in various professions on a daily basis. They are united by positive creative energy, passion for art processes and the secrets of their exploration, affirming the gifting of color and the joy of life to themselves and the world. Participants in the exhibition include: Tatjana Gurbo, Izolde Segale, Olga Belusa, Irina Šope, Ieva Ērgle, Zoja Roždestvenska, Nataļja Vorobjova, Alesja Kolontaja, Valerija Govorova, Ludmila Vladimirova, Jeļena Moševa, Alla Ņeganova, Larisa Aptere, and Ieva Užga.

"Art Deco" encompasses luxury, elegance, and the dynamics of the era. It organically combines elements of neoclassicism and modernism with the influence of cubism, constructivism, neo-Gothic, and other art movements. The style is characterized by a rich color palette, clear geometric shapes, expressive lines, as well as Ancient Egyptian, Japanese, and other exotic motifs.

"Art Deco" became the artistic symbol of the so-called Jazz Age, expressing belief in progress and the future, emphasizing the aspiration for beauty, luxury, and freedom, reflecting the atmosphere of external glamour, optimism, and zest for life of its time. The 1920s are called the Jazz Age, when this music genre became popular in the US and Europe, changing the lifestyle of society in many ways.
