When the day is the shortest and the night is the longest, the Winter Solstice or Log Evening (Bluķa vakars) has arrived. On this day in the museum, you cannot do without log dragging, fortune telling, future divination, merrymaking, games, and a Christmas market.

In ancient times, to ward off darkness, cold, and the past year's misfortunes, bad deeds, and thoughts, the Great Log was rolled from one homestead to another, and at the end of the road, it was burned. The burning of the log symbolizes the beginning of a new solar year and the sun itself, which has always been very important to the farmer.
