"Philip Glass Ensemble - Glassworks" koncerts
Tuesday, 22. September19:00· Hanzas Perons, Rīga
Hanzas iela 16a
Phillip Glass is one of the most influential American composers and pianists of all time. Although he is considered one of the brightest founders of minimalism in music, Glass himself calls his work "music with changing structures".
Glass has left a huge impact on 20th and 21st-century academic music, contemporary cinema, and electronic music. The composer is the winner of several OSCAR, BAFTA, and GRAMMY awards.
In 1968 in New York, the composer founded the Philip Glass Ensemble (PGE) as his unique music laboratory.
Over the past half-century, PGE artists have held a unique position in music history, and passing this heritage on to listeners is part of the ensemble's goals. The ensemble educates future generations of musicians – this is an integral part of PGE's work both by giving performances worldwide and as faculty members of the Philip Glass Institute at The New School.
