On Sunday, September 20, an informative hike will take place in Limbaži together with traveler and guide Jānis Zariņš. During the hike, participants will be able to get acquainted with the city's history, significant cultural and historical sites, and the surrounding natural landscapes.
Do you know where the Turkish prisoner-of-war camp was located in Limbaži and where Kaupiņciems is? And where did the author of the Latvian national anthem, Baumaņu Kārlis, live? The hike “Experience Limbaži” will allow you to find out this and much more. The circular route will start and end at Lielezers beach, leading through various places in the city and allowing you to get acquainted with both its historical heritage and the stories and legends associated with it. Along the way, there will be an opportunity to view significant historical objects, memorial sites, evidence of ancient buildings, as well as enjoy natural landscapes.
The hike will lead through the center of Limbaži city and its surroundings, getting to know the city's places formed at different times and their significance. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about notable people, cultural and historical heritage, and the city's development, as well as look at the city from a different perspective.
At the end of the hike, at 15:00, a picnic is planned at Lielezers beach. The hike organizers will provide grills, while participants are invited to take care of other snacks themselves.
After the picnic, hike participants will also have the opportunity to go on a boat trip on the “Gunīra II” on Lielezers. The trip is planned from 16:00 to 17:30. The trip fee is 5 EUR per person, and the number of places is limited, so interested parties are invited to apply for the trip in advance in the application form.
