In poetry and dance

September is Poetry Month.

The time when summer slowly retreats, evenings become quieter and you want to listen to words — those that are spoken aloud and those that remain between the lines.

In this autumnal time, poetry meets dance to tell a story about youth — about the time when the heart runs ahead of the mind, when dreams are bold and the world seems so vast that there is room in it for everything.

"Motorcycle Summer" is a story about the summer of youth. About the feeling of freedom and wind in the hair. About friendship, first love, meetings and partings. About those moments that you want to stop so that they never end.

The performance intertwines the poetic word of Imants Ziedonis, the sound of Imants Kalniņš's music, and the energy and youthful strength of the dancers of the Saulkrasti District Secondary School youth dance group “Saulīte”.

Ziedonis's words become a feeling that can be danced out.

Kalniņš's music becomes a path to travel on.

Dance becomes a conversation — between people, between the memories of generations, and between what once was and what is yet to come.

Because there are things that cannot be told in words alone.

They must be lived through, felt and danced out.

And perhaps deep in the heart of each of us, our own motorcycle summer still lives — with the sun on our face, the wind in our hair, love in our pocket and the feeling that everything is still ahead.

We invite you to meet in poetry and dance in September — to return together once more to the summer of youth.
