Orientēšanās nakts Salaspilī

On Friday, 18 September, Salaspils will be one of 22 Latvian cities hosting the tenth Latvian Orienteering Night – a free three-hour rogaining competition for teams. The competition centre will be located at Salaspils Sporta nams, Smilšu iela 1.

Over ten years, the Latvian Orienteering Night has become one of the most anticipated autumn mass sports events in Latvia. Last year, the competition in 21 cities gathered a record number of participants – 6107 people in 1982 teams. This year, the anniversary event will take place in 22 Latvian cities, including Salaspils.

The competition will take place in a three-hour rogaining format. Teams of 2-5 people will receive a map with checkpoints and will plan their own route in order to collect as many points as possible within the set time. The Orienteering Night is suitable for experienced orienteers as well as beginners, families with children, and teams of friends and colleagues. Participants will be able to start in OPEN, women's, family and veterans' groups.

Competition programme on 18 September:

from 18.30 – collection of participants' numbers;

from 19.00 – collection of maps;

20.00 – mass start;

23.00 – finish;

at 23.15 – award ceremony.

Check-in at checkpoints will take place with the QREvented app, by scanning QR codes, therefore each team needs a charged mobile phone with the ability to install the app. As the competition will take place during the dark hours of the day, participants must also take care of reflectors and pocket torches.

Participation is free of charge

Registration for the competition – until 14 September at 23.59 on the website rogaining.lv/onakts/.

The winners of each participant group will be awarded medals, and after the competition there will be a prize draw of prizes provided by sponsors.

The Latvian Orienteering Night in Salaspils is organised by the Latvian Orienteering Federation in cooperation with partners, Salaspils municipality and Salaspils Sporta nams. The event is co-financed by Salaspils municipality.
