Knuta diena – Knuta Skujenieka 90. jubilejas zīmē

On September 25, traditional Knuta diena will take place in Salaspils, which this year is marked by the 90th anniversaries of Knuts Skujenieks (1936–2022) and Inta Skujeniece (1936). The event will symbolically return to its origins – the first Knuta diena in 2000 took place in the then cultural house “Enerģētiķis”, which today has been reborn as the Salaspils Concert Hall.

At the center of Knuta diena will be the conference “Sirdsapziņas lasījumi” (from 13.00 to 17.00) about Knuts and Inta Skujenieks, the identity of Salaspils, and the preservation of the Skujenieks memory. Participation in the conference requires prior registration on the website of the Salaspils Municipality Library, which will be available from September 1.

At 18.00 in the Salaspils Concert Hall, the Salaspils Municipality Knuta Skujenieks Award in Translation of Poetry will be presented for the first time. This year, nine poetry collections and eight professional translators have been nominated for the award. Admission to the event is free upon receiving an invitation at the Salaspils Municipality Library. Invitations will be available from September 1, and the number of places is limited.

Knuta diena is organized by the Salaspils Municipality Library and Salaspils Municipality in cooperation with the National Library of Latvia and the Writers' Union of Latvia, with the support of the State Culture Capital Foundation.
