LATVIJAS PIRTS DIENA 2026

On Saturday, 12 September, Latvian Bath Day will take place throughout Latvia.

A new nationwide initiative aimed at popularising Latvian bath traditions, strengthening local tourism and helping residents get to know the baths and bathhouse masters of their region.

The idea is based on the successful principle of Home Café Days – one day a year, bathhouse owners open their doors to visitors. This year, more than 70 bathhouses throughout Latvia will take part in the initiative, offering open days, masterclasses, bath rituals, an introduction to bathhouse construction and other activities.

All the bathhouses involved in Latvian Bath Day and their offerings are gathered together in an interactive Latvian Bath Day map, which helps you find the bathhouse closest to you, choose your bath experience and contact the bathhouse owner to find out about availability and what to bring.

Abulkrastu pirts – at 15.00 In the festive spirit of the All-Latvian Bath Day, bathhouse master Viesturs Šķilteris will introduce the charm, power and magic of the bathhouse. We will tie besoms, prepare scrubs, enjoy a little bath with a dip in cold water and relaxation in the jacuzzi. The full bath ritual will be left for other times. Pie Zīļukiem – at 14.00 On Latvian Bath Day, the newly built Zīļuku pirts will open its doors to visitors, and its owner Raitis Zīle will tell those interested, over a cup of aromatic herbal tea, about going to the bathhouse and the finer points of the bathhouse construction process and rocket stoves. It will be possible to learn about going to the bathhouse, scrubbing, honey treatments, cold tubs and also the release of tense muscles according to Dr Paeglītis' method. Spēkavota pirts – At 16.00 Bathhouse master Gunta Lūse invites men to the Men's Bathhouse. Come and enjoy the Latvian bath ritual. Regain your strength and energy. Participation fee: 60 EUR per person. Limited number of places (up to 4 people). To apply, write (Whatsapp) to Gunta – T. 26291047.
