Latvijas Orientēšanās nakts Ķekavā

On Friday, 18 September, Ķekava will be one of 22 Latvian cities where the tenth Latvian Orienteering Night will take place – a free three-hour rogaining competition for teams. The competition centre will be located at Ķekavas vidusskola sports complex, Nākotnes iela 1a.

Over ten years, Latvian Orienteering Night has become one of the most anticipated autumn mass sports events in Latvia. Last year, the competition in 21 cities gathered a record number of participants – 6107 people in 1982 teams. This year the anniversary event will take place in 22 Latvian cities, including Ķekava.

The competition will take place in a three-hour rogaining format. Teams of 2-5 people will receive a map with checkpoints and will plan their own route in order to collect as many points as possible within the set time. Orienteering Night is suitable for experienced orienteers as well as beginners, families with children, teams of friends and colleagues. Participants will be able to start in OPEN, women's, family and veteran groups.

Check-in at checkpoints will take place with the QREvented app, by scanning QR codes, therefore each team needs a charged mobile phone with the ability to install the app. Since the competition will take place in the dark time of day, participants must also take care of reflectors and pocket torches.

Participation is free of charge. Registration for the competition – until 14 September at 23.59 on the website rogaining.lv/onakts/.

The winners of each participant group will be awarded medals, while other participants will be able to take part in a prize draw provided by sponsors, which will take place immediately after the award ceremony.

Latvian Orienteering Night in Ķekava is organised by Latvijas Orientēšanās federācija in cooperation with Izglītības un zinātnes ministrija, AS “Dobeles dzirnavnieks”, SIA “Jāņa sēta” and Latvijas Sporta federāciju padome. The event is supported by Ķekavas novada pašvaldība.
