Krosa skriešanas sacensības "Baložu bizons 2026"

Also this year in Baloži in May, the start will be given to the traditional open cross-country running competition “Baložu Bizons 2026”. The competition will take place for the 21st season, and every year it gathers both local residents of Ķekava Municipality and guests from other municipalities. Their goal is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle, as well as to popularize running as an accessible sport for everyone.

The competition series will take place on Monday evenings. Ten stages are planned in the series, which will take place in the Baloži forest from May 11 to September 14. Each stage will offer participants the opportunity to start at a suitable time in the evening hours from 18.00 to 19.15, ensuring accessibility for different age groups and physical fitness levels.

The “Baložu Bizons” competition is open to all interested parties and is suitable for children, youth, adults, and seniors. Participants will be divided into age groups with corresponding distances – starting from 200 meters for the smallest ones up to the 9.7-kilometer distance for more experienced runners.

Registration for the competition will take place on-site at the competition center starting from 17.30. Participants will be able to choose the most convenient start time for themselves, while for long-distance runners, the start is scheduled for 18.00. The competition regulations can be found here.

The participation fee for most children's and youth groups is not applied, thus promoting the involvement of the younger generation in sporting activities. For adult groups, the participation fee is symbolic – 2 euros.
