Jūgendstila tērpiem veltīts Bērnu rīts muzejā “Rīgas Jūgendstila centrs”

The museum “Riga Art Nouveau Centre” on September 13, 2026 at 10.30 and 13.00 invites families with children to the event “Children's morning with Runcis Alberts”, which this time is dedicated to Art Nouveau fashion and ladies' clothing.

At the monthly event, children together with Runcis Alberts will get acquainted with the world of Art Nouveau fashion, go to see the exhibition “Art Nouveau costumes. Vita Millere” and study how people dressed more than a hundred years ago, how clothing fashion changed and what details made the clothing special. Looking at the costumes made by Vita Millere, attention will be paid to the silhouette, decorative elements, materials, colors and the tools necessary for making costumes.

In the practical part of the event, costumes can also be learned by touch - children will be able to get acquainted with various textile samples - velvet, wool, silk, cotton fabrics and lace, as well as view tools related to costume modeling and sewing: a tape measure, wooden patterns for creating cutouts, tailor's chalk and thimbles, but in the museum's maid's room children will also be able to view the historical “Singer” sewing machine.

Practical class will be adapted to two age groups. At 10.30 preschool children (3–6 years) will color worksheets with the costumes seen in the exhibition and discover their most characteristic details, while at 13.00 primary school children (7–11 years) in the class “Dress the doll!” will combine paper costume elements and “dress” a cardboard doll. In the conclusion, a small quiz about what was seen and heard in the museum is planned.
