The Ventspils Museum has been organizing painting plein airs since 2010, inviting only professional artists to participate, among whom are highly appreciated authors not only in the Latvian context. Dita Lūse (multiple recipient of the Excellence Award at Art Olympia in Japan (2017, 2019), recognized as the best artist in the classical group in India, etc.), Latvian avant-garde artist Aija Zariņa, painter and exhibition curator Sandra Krastiņa, Edgars Vērpe, Kristīna Keire, Jānis Kupčs, Kristīne Abika, Gita Šmite, Madara Neikena, Liena Bondare, artists of the Talsi shrub group – Guna Millersone and Zigurds Poļikovs, Daiga Krūze (multiple nominee for the V. Purvītis Prize), young painter Neonilla Medvedeva with a rich harvest of awards and exhibition experience (more than 20), expressive painter Anita Meldere, classics of Latvian art – Jāzeps Pīgoznis, Osvalds Zvejsalnieks, Roberts Muzis, artist and head of the Mark Rothko Art Centre Māris Čačka (Daugavpils, Latvia), outstanding Lithuanian artists whose works can be seen in the latest expositions and collections dedicated to Lithuanian contemporary art – Remigijus Treigys and Romualdas Balinskas, and many other authors who have managed to gather the best impressions of the seaside and port city over the years have shared their artistic impressions of Ventspils.
