Izstāde "Jūras stāsti"
7. Aug – 7. Nov· Art Platz galerija, Rīga
Alberta iela 4-9, Centra rajons, LV-1010
The sea has always been one of the pictorially richest images in art - a source of comfort, awe, and the power of nature.
The exposition consists of a collection of paintings created by Latvia's leading seascape painters, combining the works of classical painters and contemporary authors and revealing this changing element from various viewpoints - from quiet coasts to the dramatic nature of storms, from port hustle and bustle to fishermen's daily life.
The exhibition features works by Eduards Kalniņš, Herberts Siliņš, Jānis Ferdinands Tīdemanis, Aleksandrs Zviedris, and other leading Latvian seascape artists, allowing to trace how the theme of the sea in Latvian painting has changed over several decades.
