Howard Roark is a young, brilliant and uncompromising architect. A revolutionary who refuses the comfort of an architectural office to work in a quarry. However, he is noticed by Dominique Francon, the beloved woman of his former friend and competitor Peter Keating, a high-society woman whose father owns the quarry. A new obsession is born in both of them, which will become their doom.

They represent worlds that are different from each other, yet both are fatalists. Dominique cannot decide: to love Roark or to destroy him so that neither has to suffer? The love triangle tightens even further when Dominique decides to give herself to media tycoon Wynand so that her current husband Keating can realize his life's biggest order. However, Wynand asks for Dominique's hand, and everything becomes impossibly complicated because the Roark she worships and her new husband Wynand become inseparable friends.
