At a time when 90s electronic music was searching for ever-new forms, Fatboy Slim combined house and breakbeat rhythms with influences of hip-hop, funk, and rock, creating a sound that soon broke far beyond club walls.
World fame Fatboy Slim (real name Norman Quentin Cook) gained in the second half of the 90s, when big beat – an energetic amalgamation of breakbeat, house, hip-hop, funk, and rock music – was asserting itself ever louder in electronic music. The debut album "Better Living Through Chemistry" released in 1996 was followed by "You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby", which ranked him among the most sought-after producers and DJs of his time. "The Rockafeller Skank" and "Praise You" included in it became 90s dance music classics, while the Spike Jonze-directed "Praise You" music video with a seemingly random group of dancers in front of a cinema became one of the most recognizable music videos of its era.
