12. Starptautiskais Kārļa Davidova čellistu konkurss

From March 7 to 13, the 12th International Karl Davidov Cello Competition will take place in Kuldīga.

The competition, which will be held for the 12th time, will gather young cello talents from all over the world, as well as provide an opportunity for listeners to enjoy a diverse cello music program – both in concerts and competition rounds.

The competition is organized by the Kuldīga Municipality, E. Vīgner Kuldīga Music School, and Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. The jury of the 12th International K. Davidov Cello Competition consists of an international 5-member team, headed by the concertmaster of the cello section of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the most outstanding Latvian cellists Kristīne Blaumane.

The Closing Concert of the competition will take place on March 13 at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, where the laureates will have the opportunity to perform together with the State Chamber Orchestra “Sinfonietta Rīga” under the baton of conductor Normunds Šnē.

Applications for the competition will open on November 16, 2026.
