Meeting with children's book author, journalist and poet Ērika Bērziņa

Gulbene Municipality Library is launching a series of meetings "Mazie lasa, lielie stāsta", during which preschool children aged 6 to 7 will get acquainted with 4 Latvian book authors. The meetings are planned as creative workshops, during which children together with the authors will work with book texts and illustrations. At the Gulbene Children's Library we will welcome Agnese Vanaga, Ērika Bērziņa, Anna Vaivare and Zane Volkinšteina.

On 14 September we invite you to the second meeting of the project with Ērika Bērziņa.

Ērika Bērziņa (1977) is a poet, editor, journalist. She studied philology at the University of Latvia. For many years she worked at the magazine "Mans Mazais" and was the editor-in-chief of the children's magazine "Pūcīte". She organises Poetry Days events and participates in the implementation of various cultural projects.

In 2006, the poetry collection for adults "Ziemeļu lapsa" was published. In 2020, the collection for children "Mammas dzejoļi" (nominated for the Latvian Literature Annual Award 2021 and the Jānis Baltvilks Award). In 2023, the second poetry collection for adults "Ardievas bohēmai". In 2026, the book "Mares lielais sapnis" was published, which is included in this year's Children's Jury list for the age group 7+. It is a story based on the author's childhood memories

Ērika Bērziņa: "I was ten years old, I spent summers in the countryside, at my grandmother's. In the evenings I had to go to the garden to close the tomato shed. Walking through the meadow, a little poem sounded in my head. I quickly ran home to write it down. That summer I wrote about six poems."

The meeting with Ērika Bērziņa will take place on 14.09. at 10.30 in the reading room of the Children's Service Department of Gulbene Municipality Library. The meeting is intended for preschool children, but any interested person is welcome.
