At the traditional Christmas market, mulled wine becomes the favorite drink and the air is filled with aromas of cinnamon, ginger, and roasted almonds. This year, the Old Riga Christmas market will be more surprising than ever before.

There will be an opportunity to visit Santa's house, little gnomes will delight visitors, and children will have the chance to send letters to Lapland itself! Every Friday, Christmas market customers will be entertained by a DJ, on Saturdays choirs and musical ensembles will perform, and on Sundays the market will be filled with folk music! Food vendors will provide special cocktails, sweets and treats, modern and wintery street-food menus, as well as traditional Latvian cuisine. If you are looking for a unique gift to give to your loved ones for Christmas, this is the place to be - local Latvian craftsmen will offer beeswax candles, various creative kits, for example, dish and door wreath making kits, macrame supply kits, wall decoration kits, candle making kits, and of course, other truly interesting things. Many, many traditional gifts will also be available, such as gingerbread cookies, woolen socks, and mittens.
