Rezidences “Piezīmes uz malām” izstādes atklāšana – tikšanās ar mākslinieci Blanca Prieto

Within the framework of the program “Liepāja – Eiropas kultūras galvaspilsēta 2027”, Kuldīga Municipality implements the project “Piezīmes uz malām”.

Throughout the month of August, artist residents stayed in five parishes of Kuldīga Municipality – Skrunda, Alsunga, Padure, Rudbārži and Nīkrāce.

For a month, getting to know and exploring the local environment, people and stories, the artists created new works of art that were created in close connection with each of the places.

On September 27 at 11.00 near the Rudbārži Parish Administration, within the framework of the Autumn Market, the closing event of the project in Rudbārži will take place, where the works of Spanish artist Blanca Prieto will be unveiled.

Inspired by the people, places and events of Rudbārži, Blanca has created a necklace with 17 pendants. Each of them is created based on a specific person, place, event or other source of inspiration met during the residency.

Blanca Prieto is a jewelry artist, design strategist and cultural project producer from Spain. She is the founder of the jewelry art studio Tony Blanco and has been working in the fields of design, branding and cultural projects for more than 12 years, while also teaching strategy and communication at universities.

This spring Blanca studied metal design at the Art Academy of Latvia within the framework of the Erasmus program. Living in Latvia, she discovered a strong connection with our culture, people and places, and it was this experience that inspired her to apply for the residency “Piezīmes uz malām”.

All project closing and artwork unveiling events will be free of charge and open to anyone interested.
