Friday, 9. October18:00· Hanzas Perons, Rīga

Hanzas iela 16a

"Skaņu mežs" is the largest festival of unbridled (one can also say experimental or avant-garde) music in the Baltic states, which has been taking place in Rīga since 2003. The festival observes changes in contemporary music and reports on them to its visitors, while simultaneously unfolding a glimpse into the music history of the 20th century.

"Skaņu mežs" looks at both long-unresolved and recently occurred changes in contemporary music, striving to perceive them in the most diverse range of music genres – from hip-hop, metal, and hyperpop to noise, free improvisation, and contemporary composition.

The main guests of this year's festival will be the black metal group "Krallice", German electronic music underground veteran Gudrun Gut, alternative hip-hop producer Infinity Knives' duo with rapper Brian Ennals, British post-club music producer and vocalist aya, minimalist composer Charlemagne Palestine in collaboration with guitarist and electronic musician Oren Ambarchi, as well as the free improvisation trio of "Ulver" member Daniel O’Sullivan, saxophonist Michael Foster, cellist Leila Bordreuil, and drummer Chris Corsano.
