Called a stage magician, Belgian Lisaboa Haubrechts blurs the boundary between dramatic theatre and opera. Currently a prominent director in Europe, she interprets Hermann Hesse's novel “Siddhartha”, leading into a magical story about a young brahmana's spiritual journey to enlightenment in India and searching for the wisdom of self-discovery in the secular world.

The director and conceptual author of the performance Haubrechts says: “For me, this performance is an exercise in the absence of ego. It is an attempt to separate oneself from one's achievements and ambitions. To keep a distance and open up. Like a dervish who dances until he becomes empty, becoming a channel between the earthly and heavenly worlds. But to achieve this, one must give up oneself. Searching for his essence, Siddhartha must constantly say goodbye – goodbye to the environment, family, friends, his guru, and so on, in order to be able to find the meaning of life, relief, and beauty.”

Gathering a team of Belgian, Venezuelan, Dutch, Indian, and Latvian artists, together with American composer Caroline Shaw, a grandiose, fascinating, and timeless odyssey is created for a person seeking reconnection with themselves and spirituality. The performance is already being called the European theatre event of the year, and Dailes teātris is represented in it by actress Milēna Miškēviča, as well as the outstanding Latvian Radio Choir under the general musical direction of conductor Kaspars Putniņš.

Performances take place in English with Latvian subtitles.
