Lekcija par garastāvokļa svārstībām grūtniecības laikā un pēcdzemdību depresiju

On 9 November 2026 from 16.00 to 17.30, Bauskas novada pašvaldība invites expectant and new parents, as well as other interested parties, to a free lecture "Garastāvokļa svārstības grūtniecības laikā un pēcdzemdību depresija", which will take place online on the Zoom platform.

Pregnancy and the time after the birth of a baby is a significant stage of life in which, alongside joy and anticipation, one may also experience emotional changes, increased sensitivity, anxiety or mood swings. During the lecture, there will be an opportunity to better understand these changes, recognize situations when additional support is needed, as well as learn how to take care of one's emotional health.

The following questions will be discussed in the lecture:

mood swings during pregnancy – how they differ and why they arise;

the causes of emotional lability during pregnancy;

when emotional changes should be a cause for concern and how to stabilize emotional well-being;

emotional self-care during pregnancy and after childbirth;

what we currently know about postpartum depression in Latvia;

the connection between a parent's emotional health and the child's health and well-being;

postpartum blues, postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis – how to distinguish them;

risk factors for the development of postpartum depression – what can contribute to it;

protective factors of postpartum depression – what can help avoid it;

how to assess one's emotional state after childbirth and use self-assessment methods;

self-help – what to do and what not to do;

how to help a loved one who is experiencing emotional difficulties;

what professional help is available and when to seek it.

During the lecture, participants will be kindly invited to ask questions and discuss issues relevant to them.

Duration of the lecture – 1.5 hours.
