Kinolektorijs “Mēs un kino”
Friday, 18. September· all day· Pitagora pagalmā
The event will take place on 18 September in Pitagora pagalms in Rūjiena (Rīgas iela 8). We will welcome everyone to an open-air cinema evening in Rūjiena – it will feature video materials from the Rūjiena TV archive, the film “Paradīze ’89”, as well as a conversation with director Ivars Zviedris and a special guest – Domenico Karanna.
“Mēs un kino” is organised by the studio “Dokumentālists” – documentary film director, cinematographer and former director of Rūjiena TV Ivars Zviedris.
“In the history of Latvian audiovisual media, the 26 regional television stations play a major role. They are eyewitnesses of their time. In my opinion, it is the right moment to travel through time – to look at what events were relevant at the time and what we ourselves were like. It is at the same time also my personal history from 30 years ago, because I, like many other people in the film industry, came precisely from regional television stations. In the open-air cinema lectures, a retrospective of the Rūjiena TV archive adapted to each specific place will be shown, as well as feature films and documentary cinema made in Latvia, and together with Latvian cinema veterans, directors of the new generation and activists of the local community we will invite those present to a conversation about cinema,” says Ivars Zviedris.
