Kuldīgas novada muzejs, Kuldīga
From June 12, 2026 to January 10, 2027, the exhibition “Apturēt laiku” will be on view at the Kuldīga District Museum, introducing the process of object restoration and the work of restorers in preserving cultural heritage.
Restoration is an important part of cultural heritage preservation, combining scientific research, material analysis and professional skills to ensure the long-term existence of objects without losing their authenticity and historical value.
Examples of restoration from various fields are on display in the exhibition – furniture, paintings, archaeological objects, as well as paper and parchment documents. The exhibited works reveal the diversity of restoration methods and the meticulous work required to preserve cultural values for future generations.
Within the framework of the exhibition, visitors are invited to learn about the impact of the environment and humans on the preservation of objects, as well as to try stepping into the role of a restorer.
