Grāmatas “Sociālo mediju laikmets” atklāšana un saruna ar autoru Jāni Buholcu

On 15 September at 16.00, the opening event of the scientific monograph "Sociālo mediju laikmets" by Vidzemes Augstskola (ViA) professor Jānis Buholcs will take place at Valmieras Integrētā bibliotēka. At its centre will be a conversation with the author about the role of social media in various contemporary processes and what social media reveals about society.

The book examines a broad range of issues related to social media. Among them are the operating principles of social media and the formation of publicness within them, the theoretical foundations of networks, the problematic of the social impact of technologies, users' self-presentation and the spread of beauty standards, the relationship of social media with journalism, as well as platform governance in the context of freedom of speech and the political climate.

At the book opening event, it will be possible to purchase the book. After the event, the book will also be available to anyone interested at Valmieras Integrētā bibliotēka.
