On 12 September from 10.00 to 18.00 at Mežotnes pils, a programme of talks, tours and discussions “Mežotnes pils: krīzes un risinājumi” will take place, offering an opportunity to learn about the history of the palace, its significance in the local community and to discuss the challenges of preserving cultural heritage.

At 10.00 there will be a morning talk in which the cultural project manager of Mežotnes pils, Inita Sondore, Mežotne resident Estere Pažemecka and researcher of the Collections and Scientific Research Department of Rundāles pils Anita Bistere will invite residents to a conversation about the significance of Mežotnes pils in the local community, as well as the risks that threaten the palace as an important cultural heritage site.

At 13.00 and 15.00 interested persons are invited to an open tour in which Anita Bistere will talk about the complex fate of Mežotnes pils in the 20th and 21st centuries.

At 16.00 there will be a discussion in which the director of Rundāles pils muzejs, Laura Lūse, and art historian, author of the book “Mežotnes muiža” Imants Lancmanis, will invite a broader look at Latvia's cultural heritage in the context of crises and changes.

Admission free. Prior registration is not required.
