On 20 September, the World Cleanup Day will take place all over the world, during which people are encouraged to take joint care of the surrounding environment, cleaning it up and creating a greener and healthier living space.

The aim of the World Cleanup Day is not only to clean up the surrounding environment, but also to promote understanding of our responsibility towards nature and the place where we live. This year, within the framework of the World Cleanup Day, the creation of Laimes koku parks (Happiness Tree Parks) will also continue in Latvia - planting trees, symbolically affirming care for one's family, community, Latvia and the world.

On 20 September, the residents of Bauska Municipality, communities, associations, municipal institutions, young people and other active local residents are invited to carry out their own World Cleanup Day activity. It can be, for example:

a hike with cleaning up of the surroundings or combating invasive plants;

cleaning up of the banks of water bodies;

planting trees and creating a Laimes koka parks;

cleaning up of one's neighbourhood, park or other public area;

another activity that promotes care for nature and the surrounding environment.

The planned activity can be registered on the World Cleanup Day map, so that the wider public can also learn about what has been done. Short videos taken during the cleanup can be published on social networks using the hashtags #pasaulestalka26 #worldcleanupday2026 #svinamdabu #laimeskoki and tagging @lielatalka.

The involvement of young people would be especially valuable - in schools and youth organisations, creating short videos in Latvian and English, in which peers elsewhere in the world are encouraged to take care of their surrounding environment. Every cleaned corner, planted tree and engaged person is a step towards a cleaner and greener environment. Let's celebrate nature together!
