On 19 September from 11.00 to 16.00 at Valmiera Integrated Library, a free conversation about public speech as a tool of political influence in medieval Livonia. How the speeches of public figures work, what their anatomy is and what the speaker does with their listener are questions of scientific inquiry posed by the Latvian Council of Science project “Public Speech in the Culture of Medieval Livonia”.

The conversation will be led by Andris Levāns, Professor of the Department of History and Archaeology of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Latvia, and Liene Rokpelne, doctoral candidate in historical science, leading researcher at the Latvian National Archives.
