We invite parents to participate in a series of six online lectures on recognizing adolescent depression, prevention and support options.

The lectures are intended for parents whose families are raising adolescents, to provide knowledge, support and practical tools in everyday situations. The classes will take place on weekday evenings at 19.00 - 20.00, offering the opportunity to conveniently connect after work.

In recent years, mental health difficulties among adolescents have been increasing rapidly, and depression is one of the most common problems at this age. It can manifest in various ways - from withdrawal and irritability to serious risks to a child's safety. Often these signs are noticed belatedly or associated with "normal adolescent difficulties". Parental awareness and timely action can be crucial to help a young person maintain emotional balance and receive support in time.

Lecture times and topics:

On 5 October - What is depression at adolescent age?

On 12 October - Risk factors - what increases the likelihood of depression?

On 19 October - Protective factors - what helps a young person feel better?

On 26 October - How can parents support a young person?

On 2 November - Where to seek help and what to do in a crisis situation?

On 9 November - From knowledge to action - how to support an adolescent in everyday life?

The lectures will be led by Elīna Bārtule, a certified clinical and health psychologist, cognitive behavioural therapy specialist with extensive experience working with adolescents and their families.

Participation in the lectures is free of charge, and they provide parents with a unique opportunity both to gain new knowledge and to strengthen skills that help better understand and support their adolescent.
