"La Fille mal gardée" is one of the most magnificent and cheerful works of English choreographer Frederick Ashton, premiered in 1960 at the Royal Ballet in London. The work created in 1789 by the notable French choreographer Jean Dauberval served as an inspiration source for it. John Lanchbery arranged the music composed by Louis Joseph Ferdinand Hérold for the ballet. This cheerful story about pastoral love continues to delight connoisseurs of fine ballet art all over the world.
Widow Simone wants to marry her only daughter Lise off to the son of a wealthy landowner Alain, but the girl loves the young farmer Colas. Fortunately, Lise is as little interested in Alain as he is in Lise, and Simone has to reconcile with her daughter's choice.
