Annas Egles tēlniecības izstāde “Saules pinums”

From September 17 to November 7, 2026, the solo exhibition “Saules pinums” by sculptor Anna Egle will be on view at the Bulduri Exhibition House. “Saules pinums” is Anna Egle's newest series of sculptures, intertwining abstract, symbolically precise forms saturated with subconscious imagery. Inspiration for the works can be found in dainas aesthetics, Latvian nature, and the human body. The new series continues the sculptor's sculpture cycle “Trejdeviņi” started in 2024, this time focusing on the themes of connection, intertwining, and wholeness.

The central image of the exhibition is the solar plexus – the area of the human body where countless nerve pathways connect and where various emotions are physically felt – from tension and fear to joy and elation. In the artist's interpretation, it becomes a broader symbol of how a person's feelings, experience, memories, and origins connect with each other.

The exhibition is structured as a multi-layered story in three spatial zones – two indoors and one outdoors. In the first hall, each work speaks of a kind of treasure, which can be both a valuable experience and a precious mistake.

The second space focuses on origin – earth, roots, and the mutual bond between generations. Mothers, grandmothers, children, and seeds become images that speak of what is passed down, inherited, and the strength that comes from human origin and the earth.

Part of the wall works on view in the exhibition were started in the autumn of 2025 in Vilnius as small-scale, jewel-like works – symbols and tributes to teachers, mothers, and sources of human resources. Meanwhile, the larger-scale works were created in the summer of 2026 in California, USA, as the artist participated in the process of sacred sculpture and new work creation, as well as the practice of bronze casting of a nine-meter statue.

“Saules pinums” is not only a series of sculptures, it is an attempt to understand how individual forms, experiences, and memories connect into a single whole, in body, space, human, and time.

Anna Egle (b. 1990) obtained a master's degree in sculpture from the Art Academy of Latvia in 2017. Since 2011, she has held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Latvia and abroad. Her works have been exhibited at ZONAMACO in Mexico City, Vienna Contemporary in Vienna, and ArtVilnius in Vilnius, among others, as well as in exhibitions in Latvia. The artist's works are in private collections in the USA, Denmark, Austria, Latvia, and Lithuania. For more than ten years, Anna Egle has also worked on sacred sculpture projects in the USA.
