Raiņa muzejā “Jasmuiža” Dzejas dienās tikšanās ar dzejniekiem Krišjāni Zeļģi un Raimondu Ķirķi

Rainis Museum “Jasmuiža” (Aizkalne, Preiļu municipality) on September 24 at 12.00 invites you to Poetry Days, where primary school students will be met by a meeting with poet Krišjānis Zeļģis. Meanwhile, around 13.00 Raimonds Ķirķis will introduce high school students and other interested parties to his poetry.

Krišjānis Zeļģis (1985) has been publishing poetry since 2003. He is one of the most widely translated middle-generation Latvian poets. He has also collaborated with representatives of other art fields, performing together with composers and participating in art exhibitions. K. Zeļģis' debut poetry collection “Visas tās lietas” (2010) was nominated for the “Diena” newspaper's culture award of the year. In 2024, the author's first children's poetry book “Patīk” was published, which was nominated for the Latvian Literature Annual Award and received the Jānis Baltvilks Award in children's and youth literature in 2025.

Raimonds Ķirķis (1997) is a poet, translator, and editor. He studied culture theory at the Latvian Academy of Culture. He has worked at the Rainis and Aspazija Museum, and is currently the editor-in-chief of the publishing house “Neputns”. At the end of 2019, his debut poetry collection “Kartes” was published, which received the Poetry Days Award and was nominated for the Latvian Literature Annual Award in the category “Brightest Debut”. He has translated two collections – Ilya Kaminsky's “The Deaf Republic” from English and Forough Farrokhzad's “Reborn” from Persian. He wrote poems about teenagers for the play “Netikumīgie” (Dirty Deal Teatro) and also played a role in it. The poems written for the play were published in a collection with the same title.

Poetry Days events will take place in the museum courtyard. In case of bad weather – on the premises of Aizkalne Folk House.
