EXPERIENCE TRIP “TOURISM IN THE COMMUNITY”

On September 18, we invite representatives of communities, associations, and municipalities of Jēkabpils, Madona, Mārupe, and Olaine regions to go on an experience trip “Tourism in the Community” to the territory of operation of the association “Pierīgas partnerība”.

During the trip, we will get to know firsthand the communities, people, and initiatives of Mārupe and Olaine regions that strengthen local identity, create an attractive living environment, and generate new tourism offers.

What will we experience?

• We will get to know Annas Koku skola and the village of Koki – a place where community ideas connect with nature, education, entrepreneurship, and tourism.

• In the lecture “A Community That Creates a Place”, Edgars Neilands (head of SIA “Labie koki” and chairman of the Annas Koku skola association) will share his experience in building a place and a community.

• The Pierīga Tourism Association will share its experience on the importance of community in tourism development and the creation of the EXIT Rīga brand.

• We will get to know the experience, local initiatives, and resident involvement in territorial development of the Jaunolaine, Tīraine, and Medemciems communities. Jaunolaine and Medemciems are recognized smart villages.

The activity is implemented within the project “Borderland. Identity of territories and villages” No.25-00-C0LA19.332-000002, implemented by the association “Vidusdaugavas NVO centrs”, the association “Pierīgas partnerība”, and the foundation “Madona novada fonds”. The project is implemented under the intervention “Inter-territorial and transnational cooperation of local action groups in accordance with the community-led local development strategy for the 2023–2027 planning period” of the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan 2023–2027.
