“Piekrastes amatnieku diena"

On September 19 from 12.00 to 15.00, the Jūrmala Open-Air Museum invites you to the event “Piekrastes amatnieku diena”, where everyone can get acquainted with ancient craft skills and coastal cultural heritage.

The main goal of the event is to educate visitors by introducing traditional crafts and skills that have characterized the daily life and lifestyle of coastal residents. On the day of the event, there will be an opportunity to watch master craft demonstrations, learn about the significance of ancient skills, and try various activities – from rope twisting, making fishing net knittings, and weaving split willow baskets to ceramics, macramé, soap making, and more.

The event program will be complemented by a fish smoking masterclass and tastings, a Bulduri weavers' express exhibition, and folk songs performed by the folklore group "Mare", which will remind of the Autumn Equinox time.

Piekrastes amatnieku diena is an opportunity not only to get acquainted with and appreciate the diversity of ancient craft skills, but also to be inspired by the knowledge and experience of the masters.
