The film “Uļa” is an emotional story about identity and belonging, taking place in 1960s Latvia. Ula is an Old Believer teenager whose unusual, almost two-meter-tall height attracts the attention of basketball coaches. She is taken to Riga, where she finds herself in a big city unfamiliar to her and in the world of professional sports. Struggling with internal doubts, the girl soon realizes that she has to make the most important choice of her life – to hide from the world or accept herself and become the best basketball player in the world.
