Izstāde “Bilderingshof–Bilderliņi–Bulduri”

26. Oct – 30. Dec10:00· Bulduru Izstāžu namā

Bulduru Izstāžu namā Muižas ielā 6

At the Bulduri Exhibition House, an exhibition related to the research of the history of the Bulduri neighborhood, “Bilderingshof–Bilderliņi–Bulduri”, is on display – the beginning of the creation of a permanent exhibition. The Jūrmala Museum invites the residents of Jūrmala to get involved in the creation of the new exhibition by sharing their memories of Bulduri.

The “Bilderingshof” and “Bilderliņi” mentioned in the exhibition are just two of the many historical names of modern Bulduri, derived from the German surnames of the landowners. The current name of Bulduri was introduced in 1920, when the city council decided to “stick to the primordial, truly Latvian names of the Riga Jūrmala districts” in the neighborhood names. Not only the current Bulduri neighborhood has developed on the land of the Bulduri Manor, but also the Lielupe, Stirnurags, and Dzintari neighborhoods, all of which were once called Bulduri.

The exhibition on display at the Bulduri Exhibition House introduces both known and previously unknown events, facts, and images from Bulduri newly discovered by museum researchers as a result of research. The authors of the exhibition do not claim to provide a comprehensive historical account, because the current exhibition is only the beginning of further research into Bulduri in order to create a permanent exhibition in larger premises. There is still a lack of information, and there are many uncertainties and secrets which, just like the Bulduri coin deposit on display at the exhibition, have not been fully solved.

The Jūrmala Museum invites residents of Bulduri, Jūrmala, and those interested to participate in the creation of the Bulduri exhibition by sharing their memories, information, and historical objects. You are invited to contact the employees of the Collection Department of the Jūrmala Museum by phone 29269190 or 67761914 or by writing an email: krajums@jurmala.lv.

Exhibition authors: Inta Baumane, Līga Strazda, Egita Cironoka, artist – Gundars Gulbis.

The exhibition “Bilderingshof–Bilderliņi–Bulduri” was created in cooperation with the National History Museum of Latvia, the Latvian National Museum of Art, the Ģederts Eliass Jelgava History and Art Museum, the Latvian State Archives of Cinema, Photo and Phonodocuments of the National Archives of Latvia, and JSC “Latvijas dzelzceļš”. The exhibition uses images from the collection of visual materials of the National Library of Latvia and the archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia.
