"Uļa" is a visually and emotionally powerful story about identity, growing up, and the search for one's place. The film's action takes place in Latvia at the end of the 1960s.

Uļa is an Old Believer teenager whose height approaches two meters. When her class photograph ends up in the hands of basketball coaches, the girl is taken to Rīga to join a famous basketball team. Training diligently while simultaneously trying to accept her height and identity, Uļa faces an important choice – to continue hiding or to use her talent and strive to become the best basketball player in the world.
