Dzejas diena "Kad vārdi zeltainos bērzos ieķeras..."
Sunday, 20. September14:00
Poetry suits calm autumn evenings, when thoughts can be warmed in the rays of the setting sun and in heartfelt, powerful words. But poetry also fits a wind-rocked day, when words catch in the golden curls of birches or on the edge of a drifting cloud. They still find their way to the heart that listens, heeds and keeps.
At the event, the author Edīte Čepule will perform her poetry; in everyday life she works as an environmental educator, but poetry takes shape in her thoughts in free moments, sometimes in sleepless nights, in the realisation of feelings, moods and emotions.
The poetry readings will be complemented by motifs of Latvian folk songs and works by Latvian composers performed by kokle player Anita Mičule. Anita is known both as a member of the ensemble "Trio Rondo" and as a professional kokle player.
The event will be complemented by a small creative workshop for making "poetry paintings" (materials for the workshop will be provided). The paintings will be hung in the birch branches, and then for a while they will be able to delight passers-by, making them take a small detour through the grove and linger in the play of words that have turned into poetry. The workshop will be led by teachers Elita Kupruka and Sandra Saulīte.
In case of unsuitable weather conditions, the event will be moved to the Strūžāni Parish Culture House.
